Frequently asked questions about bicycle cleaning & coatings
What does De Fietssoigneur do?
De Fietssoigneur specialises in professional bicycle cleaning, paint protection and coatings. We help your bike look like new again and protect it against dirt, water and wear.
Which bicycles are suitable?
We treat almost every type of bicycle, including:
- Road bikes
- Gravel bikes
- Mountain bikes (hardtail & full suspension)
- E-bikes and city bikes
- Cargo bikes
Both private and business customers are welcome.
What is a ceramic coating for bicycles?
A coating is a protective layer that repels water and dirt. This means:
- Your bicycle stays cleaner for longer
- Dirt does not stick as easily
- Cleaning becomes easier
- The paint and frame keep looking good for longer
Coatings are ideal for bicycles that are used intensively.
Are coatings also suitable for e-bikes?
Yes, coatings are very suitable for e-bikes. The treatment is safe for electrical components and helps prevent mud, rain and dirt from sticking.
Does my bicycle have to be new for a coating?
No. Your bicycle must be new or as clean as new. If it is not, we professionally clean and prepare it before applying the coating.
What is the difference between cleaning and polishing?
- Bicycle cleaning: thorough cleaning of the frame, components and drivetrain
- Polishing: restoring shine and reducing light surface marks (gloss paint only)
Matte paint is carefully deep-cleaned rather than polished.
Why does the bottom bracket sometimes need to be removed?
For some treatments, such as full Bike Armour coverage or polishing the frame and fork, we need good access to every area. Removing the bottom bracket helps achieve a better, longer-lasting result.
How long does a bicycle treatment take?
The time depends on the treatment and the condition of the bicycle:
- Cleaning: around 1–2 hours
- Coating or Bike Armour treatment: several hours to a full day
We always provide a clear estimate beforehand.
